Back in stock alerts and pre-orders

Both live in the Buy buttons block of the product information.

Back in stock

Turn on Show a back-in-stock form on sold-out variants. When a shopper chooses a size that is sold out, the add to cart button gives way to an email field.

Each request arrives as a contact form message to your store's email, with the product, the variant and the SKU, so you know exactly what to restock and who to tell. No app is needed.

Pre-orders

A variant can keep selling when it is out of stock: in the product's inventory, tick Continue selling when out of stock.

The Pre-order message setting in the Buy buttons block is shown on such variants, for example "Pre-order: ships in March". To show a different date per product:

1. Create a single line text definition for products in SettingsCustom dataProducts, such as Ships.

2. In the theme editor, select the dynamic source button beside Pre-order message and connect it.

3. Fill the date on each pre-order product.

For deposits, partial payments or charging later, use a pre-order app; Selvedge's buy buttons show its selling plans.
