Write size tables that Find my size can read

How to lay out size guide, garment measurement and size conversion tables so shoppers and Find my size both read them right.

Beginner6 min readUpdated Selvedge 1.0.0

Selvedge reads three kinds of table, each on its own page in Online StorePages. Create the table in the page editor with the table button, or paste it from a spreadsheet.

1. The size guide (body measurements)

This is the table Find my size compares with. Sizes go down the first column, body measurements across.

SizeChest (cm)Waist (cm)Hips (cm)
XS80-8462-6686-90
S84-8866-7090-94
M88-9470-7694-100
L94-10076-82100-106
  1. Write the size names exactly as they are in your product options: if your products say M, the table says M, not Medium.

  2. Put one measurement per column, with a range (88-94) or a single number.

  3. Keep one unit for the whole table, and set it in Theme settings > Size and fit > Default measurement unit (or in the Fit Studio block, for this table).

  4. The first three measurement columns become the fields in Find my size, so put the most telling ones first: chest, waist and hips for tops and dresses; waist, hips and inside leg for trousers.

Shoppers can switch the table between centimeters and inches, and every cell converts.

2. Garment measurements

These are measurements of the garment, laid flat: a different page per product type, chosen in the Garment measurements block.

Add How it was measured in the block, for example "Measured flat, with the garment laid out", so shoppers can compare with a piece they own.

3. Size conversion

Your sizes in the first column, then one column per size system. Choose the page in the Size conversion block.

Mistakes to avoid

Find my size shows no measurement fields

The sizes go in the column headed Size (or the first column), and every measurement column needs a header and numbers in most rows. Remove merged cells and empty rows.

The suggestion is always the largest size

Check the unit. When a table written in inches is set as centimeters, every shopper's measurements look larger than the whole table, so the largest size is suggested.

Some sizes are missing from the suggestion

Every size in your product options needs a row. A row with no numbers is skipped.
