Films are the most persuasive thing on a beauty shop: a texture, a pour, a shade on skin. Acanthus can show them in many places.
| Where | Section | Plays |
|---|---|---|
| The hero | Aurora depth hero, Curved carousel | On its own, silently, looping |
| Banners | Video, Parallax video banner | On its own, silently, looping |
| A film to watch | Video | With controls and sound |
| Product pages | Product media | When the customer chooses it |
| Customer reels | UGC reels | On its own, silently |
| Scroll film | Scroll film | As the customer scrolls |
Upload a film
Select the section, then the video setting (for example Video or Card video (overrides image)).
Select Select video, then Upload, and choose an MP4 from your computer. Shopify stores it in ContentFiles and streams it for you.
Add a picture in the section's image setting too. It is shown while the film loads, and on devices that do not play it.
If the section offers Dark mode video, add the film's dark version.
Sizes
Full-width films: 1920 × 1080 px. Portrait cards: 720 × 1280 px. All the sizes are in The right size for pictures and films.
YouTube and Vimeo
The Video section can show a YouTube or Vimeo film with controls. For films that play on their own in heroes and banners, upload an MP4: it starts faster and has no player buttons over it.
On phones and for reduced motion
- Some films, such as the curved carousel's cards, show their first frame on phones to save battery and data.
- Visitors who ask their device for less motion see the picture instead of a playing film.
- A phone in data saver mode may not start films on its own.
If a film does not play, see My film does not play.
