What the theme translates for you
Every word the theme itself writes (buttons, the cart, labels, messages, accessibility labels) comes in English, German, Spanish, French, Italian and Japanese. When you publish one of these languages, the theme's words switch automatically.
Your own words (product descriptions, headings you typed in sections, pages) are yours to translate.
Add a language
Go to SettingsLanguages and select Add language.
Install Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app. Use it to translate your products, collections, pages and the text in your sections, by hand or with automatic translation.
Back in SettingsLanguages, Publish the language.
The Language selector appears in the header (set in the Header section) as soon as more than one language is published.
Sell in other countries and currencies
Go to SettingsMarkets and add the countries or regions you sell to.
In each market, choose its currency and, if you like, its prices and languages.
Turn on Country/region selector in the Header section.
Prices then show in the shopper's currency across the theme, from product cards to the cart.
Change the theme's own words
To change a word the theme writes in any language (for example "Add to bag" instead of "Add to cart"), go to Online StoreThemes, select ... > Edit default theme content, find the text and type your own.
