This is the order that saves the most time. Each step takes a few minutes and links to a full guide if you want to go further. Open Acanthus in the theme editor (Online StoreThemesCustomize) and work through it from the top.
1. Choose your starting style
Acanthus comes in four styles, one for each kind of beauty brand. You chose one when you installed; you can still change it now, before you have tuned anything. Compare the four styles.
2. Put your name on it
Select the Header section and add your logo in Custom header logo image. Use a PNG or SVG with a transparent background, about 600 px wide.
Add a light version of your logo in Dark mode logo image, so it stays readable when customers switch to dark mode.
Set Desktop logo width and Mobile logo width until the logo sits comfortably beside the menu.
Open Theme settings > Brand and add your Favicon (a 512 × 512 px square) and a Social sharing image (1200 × 628 px), which appears when your shop is shared in messages and social posts.
More in Your logo and favicon.
3. Choose your colors
Open Theme settings > Brand colors. Acanthus keeps two palettes, one for light mode and one for dark mode, each with a background, a card color, the text color, your accent color and the two colors of the gradient in headings. Change the Accent (gold) first: it is the color of buttons, links and highlights, so it carries your brand on every page.
Full guide: Colors, palettes and modes.
4. Set your type
Open Theme settings > Typography and choose three fonts:
- Heading font for titles,
- Accent font for the words you set in italics in a heading (select them and press the I button),
- Body font for everything else.
A serif heading with an italic accent feels luxurious; a clean sans feels clinical. See Fonts and type.
5. Make the home page yours
Pick Home page in the page picker. Replace the pictures and words section by section, top to bottom. Hide anything you are not ready for with the eye icon rather than removing it. Build your home page walks through the sections in order.
6. Check the product page
Pick Products > Default product and open one of your own products in the preview. Check the buy box, the pictures and the sections under it. Acanthus has several product layouts; Product page templates shows when to use each.
7. Menus and footer
Create your menus in Online StoreNavigation first, then choose them in the Header (Menu) and the Footer (First column menu, Second column menu). See Menus and the mega menu.
8. Look at it on a phone
Use the phone icon at the top of the editor, then open the real shop on your own phone. Read every heading, tap every button, and add something to the cart. When you are happy, go through the launch checklist.
