Honest results and claims

The results sections are built for real figures. What to put in them, what to leave out, and how to word claims so they persuade without risk.

Beginner6 min readUpdated Acanthus 1.0.0

Acanthus has sections for test results, before and after photos, countdowns and stock levels. Each is built to show what is true, never to invent it. This guide helps you fill them in a way that builds trust and keeps you safe.

This is guidance, not legal advice

Rules for cosmetic claims differ by country (the FTC and FDA in the United States, the EU Cosmetics Regulation, the ASA in the United Kingdom). When a claim matters to your business, check it with a specialist.

The rules the theme follows, and you should too

Measured results, Clinical resultsFigures from a real test, with how it was measured: "24 people, 4 weeks, self-assessment"Rounded-up or borrowed figures

Scarcity indicatorReal stock, from your inventoryA made-up number
Free fromWhat every product it speaks for truly leaves out"Chemical-free" (everything is chemicals)

The countdown and stock sections are built so they cannot lie: the countdown needs a real date and never restarts, and the stock line reads your real inventory and stays hidden above the level you set.

Words that persuade without risk

  • Describe how it looks and feels: "Skin looks smoother", "feels hydrated". These are cosmetic claims.
  • Avoid medical promises: "cures", "heals", "treats acne", "repairs the skin barrier" can make a cosmetic count as a drug.
  • Say who said it: "87 % of 30 women said their skin felt softer after 2 weeks" is honest and more convincing than "87 % softer skin".
  • Keep the small print near the figure. Every results section has a Small print or method setting for this.

No results yet?

That is fine. Hide the results sections and lead with what you know: your ingredients (Formula dosage), your process and your story. Add figures when you have them.
