Choosing a shade online is the biggest worry for a makeup shopper. Two sections help, and the shade-match product template brings them together.
Shade finder: see each shade on skin
Add the Shade finder section and choose the Product. Every shade of that product shows with its swatch, photo, price and stock.
In Shade option name, enter the name of the option that holds the shades (for example "Shade").
Upload photos of the shade on four skin tones: Skin depth 1 (lightest) to Skin depth 4 (deepest). Shoppers switch between them.
To control which shades show, or add photos per shade, add Shade blocks.
Several products in one finder
One Shade finder can hold a whole range: a lipstick, a lip oil and a foundation, each with its own shades. Shoppers pick a product from a row of tabs above the finder, and the skin depth they chose stays chosen as they move between products.
Add a Product block and choose its Product. The tab shows the product's name and how many shades it has; to shorten the name, fill in Tab label.
Add the Shade blocks for that product after the Product block. Every Shade block up to the next Product block belongs to it. With no Shade blocks, every shade of the product shows.
If the product has a second option to choose, such as undertone, enter its name in Second choice. It appears under the shades, the way Finish option name does for the first product.
Repeat for each product. The product chosen in the section settings, with the Shade blocks before the first Product block, is the first tab.
On the page of one of these products, the finder shows only that product's shades.
Shade lab: a two-question match
On a product page, the Shade lab asks the shopper's skin depth and undertone (Cool, Neutral, Warm), then suggests the shade. For each Shade block, set its Depth and Undertone so the match is right. When a shopper falls between two shades, the Between two shades note says so honestly.
Add Customer photo blocks, each with the Shade worn, so shoppers see real people in each shade.
Coverage levels
For foundation, Coverage levels shows one face at one, two and three layers. Add a Layer block for each, with the Photograph at this layer, the Coverage, Finish and Wear time.
Use the shade-match template
Assign the shade-match template to your shade products: it has the Shade lab, Coverage levels, questions and reviews ready. See Product and collection templates.
